Results
1st Place - Rink 3, Blue Team, Cyril, Helen G, Michael - 29 points
2nd Place - Rink 1, Red Team, Liz, Anne Drury, Oliver - 24 points
3rd Place - Rink 2, Red Team, Frank O, Margaret, Patricia - 19 points
The 1st place team of Cyril, Helen G and Michael looked to be walking away with it early on, scoring an impressive 24 points in the first game. However, in the second game they only managed to win one end, adding just 6 points, and sadly missed out on claiming the coveted Gold Spoon by just 1 point.
Meanwhile on Rink 1, a complete reversal of fortunes was taking place. The 2nd place team of Liz, Anne Drury and Oliver managed only 6 points in the first game, but came storming back in the second. A strong finish, including 7 points on the final Power Play end (doubled to 14), added to the 4 points already scored, gave them 18 points in the second game and a final total of 24 points, securing a well-earned 2nd place.
Not to be left out, the 3rd place team of Frank O, Margaret and Patricia also staged an impressive comeback. After scoring just 1 point in the first game, they bounced back brilliantly with 18 points in the second, finishing the day with 19 points overall.
The presentation of the spoons to the winning team was kindly made by Kathleen, adding a lovely finishing touch to the day.
A perfect reminder that in Spoons, it’s not how you start… it’s how you finish!
