Another beautiful day for bowls, weatherwise, and despite the long day in Dublin yesterday, most of our intrepid travellers turned up ready for the 5th Round of Spoons.

Results

1st Place - Rink 1, Red Team - 30 points, Jessie, Brian & Frank

2nd Place - Rink 3, Blue Team - 24 points, Michael G & John N

3rd Place - Rink 2, Red Team - 16 points, Fred & Chuck

It looked very likely that Michael G & John N would take the spoons today when they finished their game. However, the team on Rink 1 were still playing their final end, sitting on 20 points.

As often happens in the dramatic Power Play end, the Red Team of Jessie, Brian & Frank produced a fantastic finish, securing 5 shots on the final end. With the Power Play doubling the score, that added 10 points, bringing their final total to 30 points - pipping Michael G & John N at the post and securing the coveted Gold Spoon! 

And special mention must go to “Mr Bowls” (Jessie), who now boasts 2 Golds and 1 Silver in the last 5 games - an impressive run of form!

Can Jessie be caught… or is “Mr Bowls” already pulling away from the pack?
