What a fantastic visit to Ierne Bowling Club our intrepid bowlers enjoyed today (Wednesday, 22nd April)

A very warm welcome awaited us on arrival, with lifts arranged to the green, followed by delicious soup and sandwiches before the match. Afterwards, there was time to relax and enjoy further refreshments before making our return journey to the station.

The match itself proved to be highly competitive, especially considering that many of our players were playing on grass for the first time and had to adapt quickly to the different surface.

Huge congratulations to Marion, Cyril, John Borza and Paul, who recorded a marvellous win on their rink against a particularly strong Ierne side. Our other rinks also performed very well against experienced opposition, including several first-team players.

Our President, Michael, delivered an excellent speech of thanks to our hosts, and special thanks go to Frank, who captured some brilliant photographs to mark the day.

This promises to become an annual fixture, as great friendships have been formed between Sligo Lawn Bowls Club and our Dublin hosts.

Sincere thanks to Carmel for organising the arrangements, which ran so smoothly throughout the day.

Finally, thank you to everyone involved for making the trip such a memorable and enjoyable occasion.
