With 16 members in Dublin today for a friendly against Ierne, the usual Wednesday Spoons had to be postponed until tomorrow.

Not to be outdone, 10 loyal souls turned up at Sligo Lawn ready for action, so naturally, a very serious competition was organised… the Chocolate Buttons Competition!

Same rules as Spoons… but with a sweet twist - instead of cutlery, the winners were rewarded with a choice of large share bags of Chocolate Buttons or Wispa Bites, while 2nd place scooped two large Chocolate Buttons each (clearly the real motivation today!).

We’re not saying this competition was fiercely contested… but let’s just say the promise of chocolate brought out some very competitive bowling!

The sun shone on the players, even if the breeze was a bit fresh, perfect weather for bowls… and chocolate.

Results:

1st Place - Rink 1, Red Team -18 Points, Pascal, Liz & Seamus F.

Winners of a choice of Chocolate Buttons or Wispa Bites Share Bags

2nd Place - Rink 2, Blue Team - 15 Points, Ann C & Dympna.

With the awards ceremony approaching, “Choco Choco” (very fitting music!) was played to set the mood before the big presentations. 

Ann read out the results and presented the winners, Pascal, Seamus F & Liz, with their well-earned share bags, 

while Pascal handed out the runners-up prizes to Ann C & Dympna… although, as you’ll see from the photo, only ONE Button survived long enough for the official photo!

This was the first, and possibly the last, Chocolate Buttons Competition, but judging by the smiles (and empty wrappers), it was a sweet success!
