The final saw Liz Cunnane and John Nibbs, worthy winners of the Ladies’ and Men’s Spoons titles respectively, contest an entertaining and closely fought match that delighted the hardy and enthusiastic members who turned out to watch.

The format consisted of two sets of seven ends, with a power play on the final end of each set. Liz claimed the first set 8-5, before John responded strongly to take the second set 9-4. With one set apiece, the match fittingly went to a tie-break, where Liz produced some superb drawing bowls to win 2-0.

Congratulations to Liz, with commiserations to John, after an excellent final of high-quality bowls played in a wonderful spirit!

Club President Michael Glennon presented Liz with the commemorative golden spoon, marking her achievement as a two-time overall Spoons champion!

Thank you to everyone who supported the Autumn Spoons over the past weeks since mid-October. We look forward to many more Sligo LBC competitions throughout 2026.
