6-6 Draw...but 100% Fun!

A Fabulous Day with Clogher Valley Bowling Federation aka FiveMileTown Bowlers

What a fantastic and fun-filled day we had welcoming our friends from Clogher Valley Bowling Federation aka FiveMileTown Bowling Club! Captain Kenny Dunlop arrived with around 25 enthusiastic bowlers, and about 30 of our own members turned out to join them for a great day’s bowling and banter.

The FiveMileTown skips stayed the same throughout the day:

Rink 1: Blayney Cathcart

Rink 2: Matt Livingstone

Rink 3: Kenny Dunlop

Rink 4: Kenny Hunter

while players rotated to give everyone two games over the three sessions of seven ends.

Game 1

Rink 1: Skip T. Kelly, M. Middleton, R. McLoughlin & F. Litherland – won 7-5

Rink 2: Skip F. O’Gara, P. Moran, A. Finan & P. Cunnane – won 11-7

Rink 3: Skip M. Meehan, P. Doherty, V. Parkes & C. Lockhart – lost 6-7

Rink 4: Skip J. Nibbs, P. Parkes, M. Watkins & G. Foley – won 5-3

Home team leading 3-1 after Game 1.

Then a welcome break for tea, sandwiches and cake!

Rink 3: Skip A. Cawley, M. Litherland, F. Litherland & S. Duffy – lost 2-8

Rink 4: Skip T. Davitt, V. Parkes, C. Devaney & B. Scanlon – lost 3-5

Visitors took Game 2 by 3-1 – so it was 4 games each overall at this point.

Game 3

Rink 2: Skip J. Scanlon, G. Foley, C. Devaney & P. Moran – won 14-3

Rink 4: Skip T. Kelly, R. McLoughlin, J. Borza & M. Litherland – lost 2-6

Both clubs won two games apiece in the third round – giving an overall 6-6 draw for the day.

The rain stayed away, the bowls rolled true, and the camaraderie was wonderful.

A big thank-you to Carmel Cawley for organising the catering, to Margaret Middleton for helping to prepare the food, and to everyone who brought something delicious to share – including Rattana, Frank and Gerry – and all who mucked in to make the day such a success. It was truly a feast fit for kings!
