The Round Robin pairs took place today in weather that you could say covered all four seasons but at least the final was played in sunny conditions.

Fifteen intrepid teams took to the green to play two-bowls pairs in the round robin format across four groups.

Winners of Group A were Rattana McLoughlin & Paul Murphy, who played excellently to win all their group games.

Winners of Group B were Liz Cunnane & John Kelly, who likewise won 3 out of 3.

Winners of Group C were Michael Glennon & Helen Morgan, who just prevailed in a very close finish to their group.

And finally, in Group D (which had 3 teams), the winners were Helen Gunning & Seamus Flanagan, winning both their matches.

On to the semi-finals, which were played in very rainy conditions:

Liz & John defeated Rattana & Paul, while

Helen & Seamus came through against Michael & Helen.

The final treated the spectators to a very entertaining match with an excellent standard of play on show. It was all square after three ends at 2–2, but then Liz & John pulled away with superb play to eventually win 8–3 and collect the title.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part - matches were played in a great spirit, and things kept moving nicely so that we were all finished by 4:30pm.

A special mention also to Marion Watkins, who was celebrating her birthday today. We all enjoyed some birthday cake with her.
