More Fun and Drama on a Sunny Charlie’s Spoons Day

21 members eagerly turned out today to enjoy the sunshine - and to battle it out for the coveted spoon! Once again, the competition went right down to the wire.

Triples was the order of the day on three rinks, with three singles matches played on Rink 4.

In third place were John Nibbs, Frank, and Gerry, scoring 18 points - 12 of which came from superb use of the Power Play ends.

In second place were Michael G, Paula, and Plunkett with an impressive 23 points (despite Michael’s own claim that he was “off form”!).

Taking first place, pipping everyone at the finish, were Helen McDonagh, Jimmy, and Jessie, with a very impressive 25 points. It was Helen’s first spoon—and she played brilliantly. Jimmy, recently back from New Zealand, showed off his Southern Hemisphere skills, while Jessie expertly skipped the rink to a Triples Spoons victory.

Dympna made the presentation to the delighted winners.

Next Spoons is on Saturday, with a tweak to the playing format.
